Bio -- Melanie Holmes is a lifelong Illinoisan and travel enthusiast. Her hometown county is Kankakee, though she now resides in Will County. A graduate of St. Xavier-Chicago, she's written five nonfiction books, the first of which won a Global Media Award. When she's not writing, you can find her championing her favorite local history museums and promoting indie bookstores and libraries.
